Homeless Assistance Services
Day Support Services Volunteers of America, operating out of the city-owned Lighthouse Center, provides day support services for homeless persons seeking opportunities to advance their chances to obtain housing, education, employment or other services.
Location: The center is open mid-April through mid-October; Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The center is open during the Winter Shelter Program operation on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on weekends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Under Development: Year-round Day Support Services weekend hours.
Homeless persons may obtain and/or use a variety of resources to assist them. Call 491-2846.
Feeding Programs/Clothing/Medical/Transportation PIN Ministry is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that serves homeless people in Virginia Beach. Services offered include: food, clothing, hygiene supplies, living necessities, medical care, and shelter.

JCOC Dining Hall meals are prepared and served every weekday evening at 6 p.m. and every Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m.

- Bicycles and Bicycle Repair (proof of minimum of two weeks employment required to obtain a bicycle)
Potter's House is open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings; sack Lunches are served from 9:30 to noon; interviews for food orders and financial assistance are taken from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Star of the Sea Catholic Church's Social Outreach Ministry offers a bag lunch, drink, and dessert to all that come. Fruits, vegetables, bread, and desserts donated by area grocery stores are sorted, cleaned and available to those in need. The food pantry and a limited amount of financial aid is available for prescription medication and for families facing eviction or cut-off notice on utilities.
Volunteers can make sandwiches, prepare fruits and vegetables, interview and pack groceries. Volunteers can work one day a week or one day a month.
House of operation are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
